the Imerd and Outward List Books.,a counter book of or- ders issued and prid which had hitherto been in use was discontinued on the 31st.December last. As the Postma s-
ter there has, however, been instructed to keep a cash 1,
book and open an account with the Bank, this counter book is therefore necessary in order to enable him to readily ascertain for posting the total amount of each day's transactions-orders issued and orders paid.

book all the transactions since the 1st. inst.

hunted up from various files.
had a surprise audit been instituted
great difficulty would have been experienced in find-
ing the necessary documents to check the accounts.

died, as I have caused all the money order documents to
be kept by themselves. pwww Monthly files are to be ¦ made of all applications for money orders, and the psid
orders are to be filed in the same manner. The advices
of money orders from pinces other than London to be kept on one file (monthly) and 45 te those from London (which are listed) to be kept on half yearly bundles.
When paying orders the date is to be
- set off at once in the money order advice of list and
at the close of the day when posting up the counter
book, a similar entry ismade in the Inward List books.
This double setting off of dates of payment(as is in
force here) will prevent great inconvenience should
